Searching for Data

Finding the data you need for your project can be challenging. This section of the research guide points you to several data sources, but it's not comprehensive, so you may need to explore on your own.

For data on other topics such as crime, education, or religion, see the Finding Statistics research guide.

As you search, remember the following;

  • The specific data that you’re looking for may not exist. If you can't find something that fits your question, and you can't gather the data yourself, then you will need to adjust your research question accordingly.
  • If you find the data that you need, it may not be freely available. If you're not willing or able to pay for the research data, you will need to adjust your research question.
