Books

Books are a good place to start to get background information or to find books that will help you study a text in-depth. Location guide:

  • Ref books are located in the Reference section of the Library on the main floor in the Reading Room. These books cannot be checked out.
  • Quick Reference books are located at the Research Help desk.
  • Books with a call number starting P are located on the lower level of the Library. 
  • Online books are available right now! If you are off campus, you will need to provide your credentials to access the books. 

Finding books

The following books are a good starting place when conducting research on any literary topic. 

These reference books focus on classical literature, as well as Old- and Middle-English literature. They are also a good starting place for your research. Many are online. 

The following are links to search the Buswell Library catalog for books on specified topics. Once you view the results, you can further limit your search by date, subject, or format type using the lefthan menu.

When you open a record for a book, be sure to scroll down to the Details field to see the subject terms that are used. Note any terms that can help you in your search.
