  • Quick Reference books are located at the Research Help desk.

Finding books

The following books are a good starting place when conducting research on any literary topic.

These reference books focus on classical literature, as well as Old- and Middle-English literature. They are also a good starting place for your research. Many are online.

The following are links to search the Buswell Library catalog for books on specified topics. Once you view the results, you can further limit your search by date or topic. When you open a record for a book, be sure to open the "description" field. Then, look for the hyperlinked subjects that may be relevant to you, and use those terms to refine your searches. For example, you may want to limit the searches about a particular text (Aeneid) instead of the author (Virgil).
